United are the third-ranked defensive side in the competition, having conceded just 15 goals in seven games.
The problem is scoring their own and United’s meagre four goals in seven games has condemned them to the bottom of the ladder on points differential.
“I cannot fault the commitment and effort our girls have been putting in but we probably just need a bit more polish when it comes to scoring opportunities,” Hardinge said.
“Scoring goals is the key to winning games and it’s something we’ll put a focus on, especially through our attacking third.”
A win against Lake Albert on Sunday could See United climb into the top four and Hardinge has faith in charges.
“The results so far this season probably don’t paint the right picture of how competitive we’ve been,” he said.
“We felt competitive against Henwood Park a few weeks back and we’re starting to hold our own in the middle of the field.”
