The 15-year-old was the only Wagga representative selected in the wider training squad and will vie for selection in the NSW State and NSW Blues teams ahead of the state championships.
Sophie, who is currently competing for an ACT side at the June Long Weekend tournament in Canberra, only found out about her selection last month.
Carla Bailey, Sophie’s mother, said it was the first time her daughter had made the cut.
“It’s going to be her first squad which is really exciting,” she said.
“There’s 45 players in that squad and they’ll do a couple of camps and play another carnival early next year.”
