Southern Inland will be out to extended their representative dominance over South Coast-Monaro when they meet at Conolly Rugby Complex at 2pm.
Southern Inland will unveil a host of new faces in this year’s clash with Duffy one of only a handful from last year’s 41-13 victory that will lace up the boots again.
Duffy, 21, will represent Southern Inland for a third time on Saturday and he could not be happier with the team put together for this year’s fixture.
“I think it’s pretty deadly, to be honest,” Duffy said.
“We’ve got a strong forward pack and a pretty fast and skilful backline.
“I think it’s looking pretty good.”
Duffy could not single out a particular strength.
“Probably the evenness across the park,” he said.
“It’s a bit hard, we’ve only come together for the one training on Sunday to get our plays and stuff together, then we’ll train again (on Friday night).
“I think we’re pretty even.”
Duffy will maintain his combination with scrum half Gerard McTaggart in the representative area with the pair picked in the halves for Southern Inland.
Duffy is confident that will help both men play a lead role.
“It makes a difference. Our communication will be better and it helps connecting the backline,” he said.
“We know each other’s game, we can bounce off each other and we know how each other play so I think it will help both of us directing the game around the park.”
Duffy is in his third year of studying vet science at Charles Sturt University.
Originally from Dubbo, he is enjoying his time in Southern Inland. He was selected to represent the Brumbies Provincial team last year against NSW Country.
Duffy would love to be able to do it again.
“It was a great learning experience last year,” he said.
“It’s a great opportunity to play against some really good footballers from across country NSW.
“I would love to do it again, but firstly I’ve got to play well enough to get selected.”
Duffy knows selection won’t come easy, nor will the win against a determined South Coast-Monaro outfit.
“I expect a full 80 minutes of footy,” he said.
“They are always very passionate about their rugby and it’s always a very enjoyable game and everyone plays in the right spirit, which is a testament to rugby.
“We’ve got a strong side, obviously we’ll play the game as it goes but we’ve got confidence in our ability and the game plan we’ve got planned.”
