Casper is the second therapy dog to become part of the school community, after the successful introduction of Humphrey in 2016.
He is also just one part of an expansion of the school’s trauma and mental health program.
Bidgee caters for students who have had behavioural or emotional challenges in mainstream schools.
Casper, who has just returned from specialised training to enable him to provide therapeutic support to the school’s students, was officially introduced to the community on Friday.
Bidgee, which adjoins Wagga High School, also officially opened a major extension, which includes five additional buildings with a library, toilet block and three extra learning spaces.
Robyn Catmull-Harding from the Bidgee School thinks Casper is going to be as popular at The Bidgee School as Humphrey.
“The staff and the students just love him,” she said.
