Teams in the under 12 boys and under 13 boys division are set to compete at Rawlings Park and there are high hopes for the two Wagga sides.
Football Wagga Wagga development officer Liam Dedini said the city’s success at last year’s event was a positive step for the sport.
“Wagga teams went quite well in 2017,” he said.
“Football is really growing here and the Country Cup is a big part of that,” he said.
Wagga sides will play teams from Eurobodalla, Dubbo, Shoalhaven and Orange during the two-day event before Riverina, Southern and Western teams are selected.
“It should be a good weekend,” Dedini said.
