Wagga Business Chamber board member Caleb Richards said the evening was a great way to celebrate all the work put in by Wagga’s business community over the past year.
“It’s fair to say that the vibe or the energy of the night was very positive – there was a lot of networking and a lot of conversation going through the course of the night,” Mr Richards said.
“It was really good to have a nice, really open and sharing environment between all the businesses who attended.
“It painted a picture of a lot of vibrancy, and there's a lot of opportunities and positivity out there in the Wagga marketplace.”
The evening’s most coveted award – the Golden Crow itself – went to welding specialists ProWay Livestock Equipment, who declared that “manufacturing is still alive in regional Australia”.
Gioia Gianniotis of GPG Architecture and Design took home the Outstanding Business Leader award, and used her speech to encourage more women to take the lead in small business.
Among the other winners was young businessman Rhyley Hunter, who was announced as this year’s Outstanding Young Entrepreneur for his work with Wagga Recruitment.
Some of Wagga’s finest employees were also recognised on the night, with Georgia Ladmore of the Lake Road Veterinary Clinic taking home the prize for Outstanding Young Employee.
The Lake Road Veterinary Clinic had quite a successful night, also bagging the Excellence in Workplace Health and Safety award.
Job Centre Australia earned themselves two honours for their great work; the Outstanding Employer of Choice award and the Excellence in Business Ethics award.
Wagga’s producers also had a good evening, with Borambola Wines taking home the Excellence in Export award.
The city’s health sector was also well-represented, with The Family Chiropractor winning the Excellence in Sustainability Award and Complete Skin/Caton Medical winning the Excellence in Innovation category.
More small businesses were recognised throughout the night, with GPG Architecture and Design winning the Excellence in Small Business award, Fast Lane Drive Thru Coffee winning the Best New Small Business award, and Dough Re Mi winning the Start Up Superstar prize.
Steve Jaques, chief executive of the Riverina Disability Service in Kurrajong, also received a special honour when he was added to The Daily Advertiser’s Roll of Honour.
