The Blues remain unbeaten at home following a 30-22 win over Cootamundra on Sunday.
After a loss to Gundagai last week, co-coach Dean Bristow was pleased with the resilience his team showed to help them return to winning ways.
“It was a very good win back at home and we managed to get the job done,” Bristow said.
“We’ve put a big emphasis on our home games given how tight the competition is.
“There is only two points between the top four teams so home wins are crucial.”
The two teams were locked at 16-all at half-time before tries to Bristow and Michael Clark edged the Blues ahead.
From there they were able to hold on for their fifth win of the season.
Bristow was pleased with how Tumut’s forward pack were able to nullify the threat posed by the bigger Bulldogs in the middle.
The result has Blues just inside the top four on for and against at the halfway point of the season.
Bristow is pleased with how the team is travelling.
“If you told me (top four) at the halway point at the start of the year I would have jumped at it,” he said.
“Especially with the amount of away games we’ve had.
“We’ve had five away and three home games and with a run of home games coming home it has put us in real good stead for the back half of the year.”
The loss sees Cootamundra slip outside the top four on points deferential.
They will be looking to respond after the general bye when the host Gundagai on June 16 while Tumut are at home again, this time to winless Young.
