Lenon has won 23 of his 26 games in charge of Marrar, including a famous premiership win, and the Bombers have locked in the experienced coach for another two years.
The extra two seasons will extend Lenon’s tenure at the club until the end of 2020.
Marrar president Terry Langtry made the announcement in front of a big crowd that gathered at Marrar Hall to celebrate the club’s 100th birthday.
Lenon, an eight-time premiership winning coach, said it was a no brainer.
“It was an easy decision,” Lenon said.
“It’s a fantastic club, everyone is on the same page and I’m just happy to be apart of it, and rapt to have been offered the job again and to be able to do it for two more years.”
The Bombers made it seven straight wins to start the year on Saturday, accounting for Northern Jets by 37 points in a scrappy affair at Langtry Oval.
Lenon said the future is bright for the club.
“That’s obviously part of the decision, to help the club strike to improve and get better and obviously the youth we’ve got coming through is going to help with that,” he said.
“It’s all positive.”
The other major announcement on Saturday night was Marrar’s Team of the Century in football and netball.
Three current day players made the team, in Brad Langtry, Clint Taylor and Brad Turner, while John Hawke was named coach.
“It’s unbelievable. It’s just a shock,” Hawke said.
“My time at Marrar was country football at it’s best.”
