TRAC were dominant through the season and drew first blood in the final when Ethan Weidemann found his mark inside the first two minutes
Mater Dei struck back through Zac Cornell and threatened to spoil any early celebrations before a Harrison Thomas goal gave the favourites some breathing room ahead of quarter time.
Cooper Pavitt led the charge for TRAC in the second term, booting two late goals to give his side a 21-point buffer at the main break.
Mater Dei’s defence crumbled after halftime as TRAC doubled their score and blew the margin out to 48 but rallied to contain their opponents to just one goal in the final term.
TRAC coach Mick Glanvill paid tribute to a vastly improved Mater Dei side and said his side deserved the win.
“I think both sides played well but that third quarter was really good for us,” Glanvill said.
Mater Dei coach Matt Hope was thrilled with the effort from his charges and noted the skill level of his opponents.
“TRAC are a very good side and have excellent foot skills across the park,” he said.
“I’m just proud of the way we played, particularly in that first half.”
The win marks TRAC’s second Currie Cup win in as many years after the boys in green downed Kildare Catholic College by 26 points in last year’s final.
