The Mark Hughes Foundation: Beanies 4 Brain Cancer walk will take a route that commences from the Apex Park in Lake Albert this Sunday, June 3 at 10.30AM.
Cathy Reid, whose family has been personally affected by brain cancer is hopeful the turn-out on Sunday will increase the profile of this type of cancer.
“We’re just putting this together because my husband has been affected with a brain tumor and that’s why we decided to raise the funds and bring more awareness to it,” she said.
“There seems to be a lot of awareness for other diseases but there doesn’t seem to be much out there for brain cancer.
“We’ve had quite a good response to it, hopefully, if the weather doesn’t rain we are expecting quite a few people.”
There will also be a sausage sizzle, a coffee van and a raffle. as well as beanies and key rings for sale.
All the proceeds will be donated to the Mark Hughes Foundation to promote research, increase awareness and support all affected indirectly and directly by brain cancer.
