Mater Dei made it two wins over Kildare Catholic College in the space of 24 hours, winning 3.5 (23) to 2.2 (14).
After winning the Tracey Gunson Shield netball final on Tuesday night, Mater Dei picked up where they finished off with a blistering opening quarter display.
Mater Dei kicked three goals in the opening eight minutes to get out to a 21-point lead at quarter-time.
It proved to be a match-winning lead as Kildare were unable to recover from the slow start. Kildare managed goals in the second and fourth terms but were never able to get in a winning position.
Mater Dei coach Michelle Lumsden was proud of her girls.
“I’m stoked with the girls,” Lumsden said.
“They’re a really great team who want to learn. They are all interested in AFL and they have been like little sponges, taking it all in.
“Once they grasped it, they got really excited and loved to learn.
“We have a range of different athletes and they are all competitive girls, in any sport.”
Five girls backed up from the netball triumph the night before – Mikaela Cole, Hannah Finemore, Maddison McIntyre, Abbey Morton and Molly Devries.
Morton was named best on court in the netball win and backed it up with an impressive performance on the field.
Lumsden said it had been a successful week for the school.
“It’s been a very good week. So far, so good,” she said.
Mater Dei will now progress to the state finals in Canberra on June 20.
