The Wagga club extended Young’s horror start to the season with a 50-20 win at Equex Centre on Saturday.
After an up and down half from both teams Thomas Jenkins scored early to get the Pickers within four points just after the break before an intercept try from Tristan Dickson turned the tide for Kangaroos.
Coming off a drought-breaking win over Southcity, coach Ben Jeffery thought it was key to the win.
“The first half was a bit of a struggle with drop ball and a bit of complacency going try-for-try but as soon as we tightened our defence up, and Tristan Dickson got that intercept it changed the game,” Jeffery said.
“It could have gone either way at that stage but we were just lucky.”
Jeffery doesn’t believe the team brought half the effort they showed to take down the Bulls and he’s looking for more when they host Albury next week.
“They put a good score on Young as well so they are definitely going to be tough,” Jeffery said.
“We have to do things right to try and grab another win.”
Hayden Jolliffe (hamstring) and Nick Trevaskis (quadriceps) are injury concerns heading into the clash.
Meanwhile Young will be on the hunt for their first win of the season against Brothers.
