But their work started well before kick-off against Young.
Monaghan and coach Adrian Purtell rolled up the sleeves in the canteen for 90 minutes with the pair happily mingling with the crowd.
“It was good fun,” Purtell said.
“It was good to have a chat with people and get involved a bit more.
“The club proposed the idea a few weeks ago to help out our volunteers and I think it’s a great initiative.
“A know a lot of the local footy clubs do it.”
Monaghan, who scored two tries against Young, is proving popular on and off the ground with the former Test player set to play again against Temora at Greenfield Park on Sunday.
“We’re really lucky he’s here,” Purtell said.
“Things like the canteen show he’s willing to rip in and do whatever.
“Not only is he a good footy player, he’s one of my good mates and a top person.”
Albury Thunder are two wins behind fourth-placed Tumut and will be desperate for their third victory of the season against the Dragons.
“It’s another huge game,” Purtell said.
