Curator of Spy: Espionage in Australia Emily Catt said there will be something for everyone in the exhibition.
“There’s a serious story for those who are interested in the secrets and stories of espionage in Australia, we’ve got a family trail for two different age groups, and we’ve also got some tactile interactives,” Ms Catt said.
“We’ve also borrowed some objects from intelligence agencies, and one of our partners is ASIO, so some of these objects have never been seen before by the public.”
Ms Catt said the exhibition goes right back to federation in 1901 and covers everything since, including Australia’s most famous example of espionage – the Petrov Affair.
“We’ve really taken the popular image of spies and it’s really James Bond looking, but we do have the serious story there, as well,” she said.
The exhibition will run from May 31 to August 12 at the museum.
