A dedication to the job and willingness to work hard has landed Jess Pulver a spot in the Golden Crow Awards finals in the outstanding young employee category.
Jess started at Jed’s Heavy Vehicle Maintenance 18 months ago and has already become an integral part of the team.
“She goes out of her way to make sure things are right here,” business owner Jeremy (known as Jed to most people) Keough said.
“She works hard and is dedicated to the job.
“There aren’t many women interested in this field and she’s really good at what she does.”
While Jess’s role is technically accounts manager her job involves everything from answering phones to ordering parts and organising Jeremy and mechanic Justin Malcolm in the workshop.
“Anything that needs doing day-to-day she’ll have a go at it,” Jeremy said.
“She’ll have a go at almost anything but she said she can’t help on the tools,” he joked.
Being named a finalist was the last thing Jess was expecting.

“I was really shocked,” she said.
“I didn’t think there was any way I would be a finalist. I am very excited and grateful.”
The entire team at Jed’s is backing Jess for a win while she is looking focusing on her future career goals.
“I would like to continue to be a part of the team at Jed’s Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and help the business grow,” she said.
“I would also like to further my education and qualifications.”
Jed’s Heavy Vehicle Maintenance is a team of six who service, repair, and maintenance of a range of vehicles.
The business started off mobile with just two staff members and moved into a fixed premises five years later.
Today, the business is based on Edward Street with six staff members and around 50 clients on the books including interstate companies, local operators and individuals.
“People come from around the region to have general repairs and registration checks done,” Jeremy said.
“When people call us they’re talking to the mechanic that will work on their vehicle.”
