About 2.30am on Sunday, highway patrol came across a white utility which had rolled and turned over to be in an empty irrigation channel at the intersection of Tabain Road and Merungle Hill Road.
When police arrived at the scene, two of the occupants had made their way out of the vehicle, while another remained inside.
Police allege one of the men became violent and capsicum spray was used to subdue him.
A woman also involved is alleged to have been holding a pink and blue backpack and wouldn’t allow police to search it.
Police said this person also gave them a name which they later discovered was fake and she was wanted for several offences in Wagga.
Following a search of the back pack items believed to have been stolen were located.
A woman was taken by paramedics to hospital and charges have been laid for a number of offences.
Items stolen from trucks
CCTV footage will be reviewed by police after cash and other items were stolen from Kenworth trucks parked inside a Leeton business’ premises this week.
Cash and digital equipment were among the property which was stolen from the Short Street business.
Police are also investigating a break and enter at Leeton’s Girl Guides headquarters.
It is unknown at this stage if anything was taken.
Drug driving on the radar
A 23-YEAR-OLD male was found to be allegedly driving under the influence of the drug ice on Wednesday morning in Leeton.
Police were conducting random breath and drug tests on Wamoon Avenue around 10.30am when the man was stopped.
He passed the breath test, but an oral fluid test found traces of the drug. The man was taken to Narrandera police station where further tests found the same result.
The sample has now been sent to the NSW Forensic and Analytical Science Service in Lidcombe where it will be further examined before charges can be laid.
A 29-year-old woman is also undergoing a similar process after she underwent a random drug test after being stopped by police on Acacia Avenue on May 12 at 9.45pm.
After testing positive to having methamphetamine and cannabis in her system, she too underwent further testing in Narrandera and the sample was sent on to Lidcombe.
Needles on police radar
AFTER being contacted by a concerned member of the public who had discovered two capped and one uncapped needles near their property, police disposed of the items.
The resident contacted police to remove the needles and this is something all community members can report.
Inspector John Wadsworth encouraged members to report any needles they may find.
Other police news
“Police can come and dispose of them, but it’s also good for us to know where this is happening,” he said.
“Obviously there are health implications. If we can catch someone who (leaves their needles on the ground) they can be charged.”
