Ganmain-Grong Grong-Matong forward Riley Corbett, Coolamon’s Liam Delahunty and Northern Jets’ Jeromy Lucas have all been named in the Allies squad.
The entire 50-man squad will travel to Melbourne and take part in the Allies Camp from May 24 to 27, where they will play Vic County and Vic Metro in two practice matches.
Teams will be selected from the squad to compete in the AFL under 18 division one championships.
None of the trio have played for their clubs in the season proper this season but Corbett will represent Riverina League in Saturday’s representative game against Farrer League at Robertson Oval.
Delahunty has been busy juggling Giants Academy and Level One NAB AFL Academy commitments, while Lucas goes to school in Melbourne.
The Allies first game is against Vic Country on June 9.
AFL NSW-ACT state manager of talent and coaching, Darren Denneman, says he is pleased to see so many players from the region included in the initial squad.
“The collaboration that exists between all parties – community clubs, schools, AFL Club Academies, the state body – is reflective of this positive result,” Denneman said.
“The professional way the Swans and Giants represented themselves throughout the NAB AFL Under-18 Academy Series speaks volumes for their respective programs.”
