It follows a spate of arson across Wagga in recent weeks, devastating individuals, families and communities.
Turvey Park firefighters were first called to a grass fire on the Wiradjuri Walking Track in Tolland after 12.30pm.
The fire was found close to 100 meters north of Redhill Road and was quickly extinguished.
Withing half an hour, they were called to another fire at Glenfield Park.
Fire and Rescue NSW station officer Jeff Edwards said the incidents were frustrating on two points.
“For one, it shows a level of carelessness,” Mr Edwards said. “It’s too easy for a cigarette to be discarded from a moving vehicle.”
He said deliberately lit fires put lives and property at risk.
“Recovery is not a minor thing,” Mr Edwards said. “Either education hasn’t gotten through or those responsible don’t understand the trauma people go through.”
He said these “headache fires” were causing a “big pain”, impacting on the community, the environment and emergency services.
