This week nearly 2000 children and their teachers attended performances of Roald Dahl’s George’s Marvellous Medicine. This show, cleverly adapted from the much-loved book bounded off the page and was the first show in our Kid’s Season.

On tour, after a sold-out season at the Sydney Opera House, George's Marvellous Medicine was packed to the rafters with mischief, music, magic and giant laughs. Children’s theatre is a powerful force, and when done well, it captures the imagination and fires the creative juices.
Other upcoming family-friendly shows are Yo Diddle Diddle, Completely Improvised Potter and The 78-Storey Treehouse.
Yo Diddle Diddle explores the theme of resilience and the show is inspired by the hilarious rhyme and rhythm of Tony Wilson and Laura Wood’s book The Cow Tripped Over the Moon. Cow, Cat and a dog named Houston are set to bring the farm to life in a hip-hop-infused adventure.
There are two performances of Yo Diddle Diddle on June 5 at 10am and 1pm and it’s particularly suitable for four- to eight-year-olds.
The Wagga Comedy Fest swoops through the city for three days mid-June and the line-up is a cracker.
Completely Improvised Potter is geared at the whole family. Unrehearsed, unplanned and made up completely on the spot, delight as you meet new Defence Against the Dark Arts teachers, brew polyjuice and maybe, just maybe, defeat He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named!
The two performances of Completely Improvised Potter will take place in La Petite Grand, a ‘spiegelesque’ tent on the Civic Theatre lawns June 16 at 4pm and again at 6pm. So pour yourself a butterbeer and manage your mischief quickly – these shows will sell out!
Adapted from the book by Andy Griffiths and Terry Denton The 78-Storey Treehouse just keeps growing. With yet another 13 levels, it’s now got a Scribbletorium and a high-security potato chip storage facility (guarded by one very angry duck!).
In even bigger news, our friends are going to be famous! The legendary Mr Big Shot has arrived to make a Hollywood blockbuster! But when his first step is to fire Andy and replace him with a monkey – well, a gibbon named Mel Gibbon – the battle is on. Will the Treehouse Blockbuster ever get made? Who will win the battle of Andy and Terry? And why are those mysterious spy cows turning up everywhere?
The team behind The 13-, 26- and 52-Storey Treehouses Live on Stage return with the newest, biggest, brightest blockbuster in the series… but watch out for those cows!
There will be four performances of The 78-Storey Treehouse on July 24 and 25 with an early evening performance on July 24 at 6pm.
