The door knock has been running for more than 50 years and Lieutenant Kara Hartley said she would encourage everyone in Wagga to pitch in however they can.
“By giving a few hours of your time you can help the Salvos give hope where it’s needed most, in our local community,” she said.
“We are asking Wagga to pull together for those in crisis and collect for this year’s Red Shield Appeal.”
The money raised will fund various projects. The main initiative that Salvos runs in Wagga is the welfare pantry which helps those finding it hard to provide basic food supplies for their family.
“We also have community units which is a outreach for hospital care for those who are coming out of town and it provides cheap accommodation,” she said.
“The Wagga community has been very supportive in the past.”
