The Swans broke the game open in the second half and kicked five goals to two to set up a 9.14 (68) to 5.6 (36) victory.

It continued a strong start to the year for Griffith, who sit on top of the ladder with three wins from the opening three rounds.

Griffith coach Will Griggs is pleased with how things are coming along.

“You can’t ask for much more than that,” Griggs said.

“They were pretty good, they put a fair bit of pressure on us and it took until the third and fourth quarters to open it up and get our game going.”

The Swans are using their half-back line as an attacking weapon this year and Mick Duncan, in his first game of the year, was used there to great effect against the Crows.

Griggs and Guy Orton have also played across half-back early in the season.

“I think most of your drive comes from back there,” he said.

“If you can make the right decisions coming out of the backline, that’s half the battle.”

Griffith 17-year-old Isaac Campbell shone on a wing, while Heath Northey and Ben King also had big impacts.

The Swans were also stoked with the job James Taylor did on Leeton-Whitton full-forward Daniel Muir in restricting him to one goal.

Making matters worse for the Crows was a serious knee injury to Danyan Evans.

Tom Meline was Leeton-Whitton’s best, while youngsters Sam Hopper, Hugh Collins and Kyle Pete all tried hard.
