The sentence of a former Junee high school teacher, who has pleaded guilty to 22 sexual assault charges, has been delayed to allow the victims to appear in court.

Junee’s Carl William Doherty, 82, has pleaded guilty to 10 counts of assaulting a male and committing an act of indecency, four counts of indecently assaulting a male, seven counts of buggery and one of attempted buggery.
The charges relate to seven different victims and to incidents which occurred on a number of occasions between 1965 and 1980.
The incidents occurred across the Riverina and surrounds, including in Doherty’s car on the side of the road and in a shower on school grounds.
Doherty is now expected to be sentenced on May 11.
