A young Riverina driver felt the full force of the law when he was clocked driving a B-double truck at almost 40 kilometres per hour over the speed limit early on Saturday morning.

The 21-year-old man was stopped at 1:50am by police from the Gundagai Highway Patrol when they caught him travelling at 137 kilometres per hour in a 100 zone.
The driver was travelling southbound on the Hume Highway at Jugiong.
Police issued the man with an infringement for driving a class C vehicle at more than 30 kilometres per hour above the speed limit.
Gundagai police said the B-double truck, which was fully-loaded, was then escorted to Gundagai where it is still awaiting a full computer download.
The incident triggered a heated online discussion among residents, calling in to question whether drivers should be licenced to drive heavy vehicles at such a young age.
