For the first time in a decade the Tigers have lost their first two games of the season.
It was 2008 when the Tigers last had back-to-back losses to start the season.
Last year’s grand finalists are out to stop the slide against Young at Alfred Oval on Sunday after suffering two six-point losses at Anzac Park to start the year.
They put in a scrappy effort against Cootamundra to start the season before giving up a 20-point lead to Southcity last Sunday.
Despite sitting in seventh place captain-coach James Smart is not too worried by how his team is travelling.
“We are not concerned or anything like that,” Smart said.
“We know that first win is just around the corner.
“We just have to keep working hard, not try to force anything and stick to the basics.
“I know it is cliche, but that is what we have to do.”
While Gundagai have a very similar line up to last season they have undergone some major positional changes.
Smart thought the game against the Bulls a big improvement on the showing against the Bulldogs.
“It was a huge improvement when went from the second half against Cootamundra completing at 44 per cent to in the first half this week completing at 88 per cent,” he said.
“That is why the scoreboard read the way it did at half-time.
“They (Southcity) were probably a bit off, but we took advantage of it.”
Gundagai were up 20-0 before the Bulls got on the board after the half-time siren.
Smart thought making more mistakes in the second half enabled the Bulls to get back into the game.
In the end it cost them dearly.
“We made the errors and we spoke about backing our defence, but I think we let them get some quick play the balls on us and that is the type of footy they like to play,” he said.
“We will take a lesson out of that and there are some positives as well.”
Young are also looking for their first win of the season.
After finishing fourth last year, the Pickers have looked a shadow of their best from season after suffering losses to Tumut and Temora .
Gundagai were last winless heading into round three in 2011 but had a bye to start the season.
In a twist, they scored their first win that season against the Cherrypickers at Alfred Oval
