According to Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke, the project will “provide a smoother and safer road surface” between the intersection of the Sturt Highway at Gillenbah and the main irrigation canal bridge at Narrandera, just south of the town.
“Work will be carried out from Thursday, April 26 between 7am and 6pm on weekdays and between 7am and 1pm on Saturdays and is expected to be completed by the end of June, weather permitting,” Ms Cooke said.
“Changed traffic conditions including lane closures will be in place for the safety of workers and motorists.
“Motorists should plan ahead, allow extra time for their journeys and follow the direction of traffic control and all signs, including a 40km/h speed limit through the work zone 24 hours a day for the duration of the work.”
Ms Cooke added that the RMS would make every effort to reduce the impact on road users and thanked the community for its patience while the works were carried out.
