A junior clinic was held at Conolly Rugby Complex last week providing the opportunity for children from five to 12 years of age to be put through their paces.
The code is expanding at a junior level as the likes of Alicia Quirk continue to put the game in the national spotlight with the women’s rugby sevens success.
Southern Inland junior development officer Zac Elliott has been pleased with the growth of the sport within the region during the past 12 months.
“We’re about 150 registrations up on last year for the Southern Inland junior competition,” Elliott said.
“It’s about getting as many kids running around playing rugby and thinking about rugby.”
It comes as Wagga Juniors unveiled a new look for the season with the Crows jumpers now featuring the colours of all four senior clubs in the city.
