The Hawks have drawn National Premier League powerhouse Sydney United 58 and have to face them in Sydney.
Coach Ryan McKenzie said the club is still trying to see if they can build a squad for the clash next Wednesday.
“They originally approached us to see if we wanted to play Anzac Day, but due to logistics and the short timing we couldn’t get a squad there,” McKenzie said.
“At the moment we are trying to sort out a team for next Wednesday night.”
McKenzie is unavailable for the clash and is joined by captain Chris Hart, Carl Pideski and Ben Bedwell.
Only 10 players have been confirmed so far and McKenzie is hopeful they will find enough to fulfill the exciting opportunity.
“You are always going to get more out of a good squad than a bad one so going up a team of this quality is going to be a great experience,” he said. “At the moment we are doing everything we can to get a squad there but at the end of the day it is really hard to commit to taking work off for a local association time like us.”
Sydney United 58 play in the tier below the A League and is the highest level of club the Hawks could face at this stage of the competition.
They needed extra time against St Patricks in Wagga just to qualify and it shapes as a David and Goliath match-up.
“As far as it goes the challenge is definitely there,” McKenzie said.
“It is a massive mountain to climb.”
Henwood Park also have a Football Wagga clash before the FFA Cup date and will take on South Wagga on Sunday.
