Carlo’s Espresso Room Eatery is now listed for sale for $325,000 plus stock, with the rest of the Cache Group set to follow in the coming weeks.
It’s not the only Wagga business up for grabs, with The Garden City Motor Inn currently on the market with a $995,000 leasehold.
Cache Group owner Anthony Chambeyron said it was the right time for a change.
“We (Renee and I) still haven’t lost our passion but we are thinking of a sea change as well,” he said.
“There’s thoughts about moving somewhere coastal and working or buying something smaller in the hospitality industry.”
It’s been a rough journey for the pair, after Cache suddenly erupted in flames on January 18 last year.
With around $300,000 worth of damage, the apartments and restaurant remained closed for about 10 months in an attempt to rebuild.
The business finally reopened in November last year with a number of new features, including Charlie's Chocolatier and Pattisserie.
Mr Chambeyron said the fire itself did have an impact on their decision after what was a “roller coaster” year.
“It was a traumatic experience and put a strain on us but the timing is great because the premises is brand new,” he said.
“If someone’s going to come in they can be confident that there’s nothing to spend but also there’s plenty of scope to improve.”
With plenty of tears expected during the changeover, Mr Chambeyron said the pair are ready for their next challenge.
“Renee is a little closer to it than I am because it’s always been her baby,” he said.
“Wagga certainly isn’t struggling and it’s a great place to live.
“We’ve never been stronger and we’ve already had some interest.”
When asked about the reason behind the sale of The Garden City Motor Inn on Day Street, the owner declined to comment.
The paperwork is still being finalised for the sale of the remainder of the Cache Group.
