Lachie Johnson, Mitch Bloomfield and Elliott Winter will all make their senior debut in the round one clash.
The Goannas have also been boosted by the inclusion of new full-forward Brent Arho, who has been given the all clear after suffering an ankle injury in the pre-season.
The inclusion of Will Keogh is even better news for MCUE. He was set to play in Melbourne this season but a change in circumstances will see him pull on the Goannas jumper for another year.
Off the field on Saturday, Member for Riverina Michael McCormack will toss the coin. McCormack is acting prime minister at the moment while Malcolm Turnbull is overseas.
Both of McCormack’s boys, Alex and Nick, will line-up for the Goannas. It will be the first time the two have played together after Nick crossed from Wagga Tigers over the off-season.
“We are delighted that the Acting Prime Minister will be on hand to perform the ceremonial coin toss before the game and watch his two sons play in a great contest of local footy at Mangoplah this Saturday,” AFL NSW-ACT chief executive Sam Graham said.
“Clubs like Mangoplah-Cookardinia United-Eastlakes and Ganmain-Grong Grong-Matong are great examples of what country football is all about.
“Both clubs are filled with talented players and volunteers that proudly represent their local communities through our great game.”
