Police are seeking the identity of a man and woman who abducted a boy from his Griffith home and assaulted him over the Easter long weekend.

Detective Acting Inspector Peter Owen of the Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad, Southern Zone made an appeal for information in Albury on Tuesday afternoon.
“This month the State Crime Command Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad began investigations in relation to a reported incident where a boy was abducted from his house in Griffith and taken to another residence where he was assaulted,” he said.
“During that assault it’s been reported a weapon was also used.
“The boy managed to escape at some point and was later taken to Griffith Base Hospital for injuries sustained during the assault.
“The boy has received medical attention, he’s receiving appropriate care and I believe he’s doing OK.”
The teenage boy was taken from his home address to another residence in the surrounding vicinity.
The incident was reported to police in the days following.
Detective Acting Inspector Owen said police have no reason to believe the offenders have fled the Griffith region.
“They are not (known to the boy) and we’re seeking help from the community to try and identify the two people,” he said.
“The female is described as a lady in her late 20s to early 30s; she has light blonde to light brown hair, she has a nose ring and a very distinctive tattoo on her back.
“The man is only described as being 175 to 180 centimetres tall and at the time he was wearing a high visibility vest.
“Police have conducted inquiries in relation to a vehicle and that vehicle has been seized for examination.”
Detective Acting Inspector Owen could not comment further on details of the incident but urged anyone who many have information to make contact.
“Investigations have been continuing since early April when the child abuse squad was advised,” he said.
“At the moment we’re at the position now where we can seek advice and help from the community to try and identify the offenders.
“It’s a horrific and traumatic incident for the boy, his family and the wider community.
