Mantra Pavilion presents design for living by Noel Coward. A Wagga School of Arts production – life is for living...make yours fabulous!
Design for Living by Noel Coward is very close to opening night and the adrenaline is pumping for all actors, stage personnel and Director Fay Walters.
One of the most exciting plays written by Noel Coward Design for Living is a portrait of desire to be different laced with eccentric passions, and novel comedic situations.
To quote one of the characters “our lives are a different shape.”
This statement in itself builds throughout the play and echoes in part Coward’s insistence which states Let’s be superficial....Let’s blow trumpets and squeakers and enjoy the party as much as we can. Let’s savour the delight of the moment.
Wagga School of Arts Community theatre has put together a wonderful cast for this production, featuring Jo Darby, Joel Hardy, Jackson Balme, Tony Trench, Fiona Summerell, Patrick Kenny, Lauren Walker, Kristil – Rae Mobbs, Blake Smith and Christopher Kanck.
The play is a scandalous romp through Paris, West End London and New York High Society.
The director Fay Walters is very excited that it has been possible to compliment the production with the music of Cole Porter, who together with Noel Coward raised eyebrows and headlines at the peak of their careers and had so much in common.
The audience will be treated to Cole Porter songs sung by David Downey and accompanied by John Jones.
This music will open the show and be performed throughout at various breaks.
Design for Living is a delicious theatrical display of delectable 1930s fun, glamour and unconventional relationships.
