Playing at Leeton No.1 Oval for the first time since completing their undefeated premiership at the venue, the Phantoms proved far too strong for the Bulls.

Co-captain Tim Rolls was impressed by how his forwards responded to the challenge presented by the visitors early.

“The Tumut boys were very physical up front and I thought we responded well,” Rolls said.

“Especially with the conditions.

“There was one hell of a breeze that made any sort of ball movement pretty difficult.”

Moji Waqa was strong in the forwards while new recruit Manasa Rokomatoto continues to impress out wide and was dangerous in attack.

Rolls still believes there is plenty to work on ahead of the clash with Wagga City next week.

Discipline lapsed late in the second half and enabled the Bulls to get some points on the board.

Tumut weren’t helped by an early yellow card to Tom Mouat but managed to score late through Josef Glamuzina and Joe Scott.

It soured the finish for the Phantoms.

“I thought the boys did well and then we sort of let up in the last 15 minutes,” Rolls said.

“The game was done but it’s obviously not the best thing to let your foot off the pedal.

“In the last 15 we let them get a roll on and some of our discipline was a bit lost.

“They got a few penalties to let them back into the game.”
