The Lions showed it was far from doom and gloom at Ganmain Sportsground by dishing out a 65-point hiding to the Bombers.
GGGM took on both premiers of the Hume and Farrer Leagues in their pre-season trial games and came away with two commanding victories.
They beat Osborne by 55 points last month.
It is a good start to Christin Macri’s tenure as coach of the Lions.
“It’s pleasing I suppose,” Macri said.
“It’s good for the players to see what we’ve been trying to work on the last few months to see in games that what we want to do, and what we’re trying to do, can work.
“We’re certainly not getting carried away, we know the opposition were missing players but it shows what we’re trying to build is working and hopefully we can keep things going that way.
“It all starts in a couple of weeks and we’re looking forward to it.”
GGGM take on Mangoplah-Cookardinia United-Eastlakes at Mangoplah Sportsground in round one.
Riley Corbett kicked five goals in a strong display against the Bombers on Thursday night, although he may miss the early parts of the season with under 18 representative commitments.
New recruit Aaron Proctor impressed again, while Jesse Lander and Zac Wiencke also played well.
The Lions have lost Canberra recruit Brandon McRedmond after he had to move to Melbourne for personal reasons.
GGGM have also appointed Ben Walsh as the new club captain, with Jacob Olsson deputy.
“They are a couple of good appointments, Ben especially,” Macri said.
“Everyone I spoke to said he would be good for the job. The club endorsed it and so did the players.”
Meantime, it was a second consecutive heavy loss for Farrer League premiers Marrar.
They went down to Collingullie-Glenfield Park by about 12 goals a fortnight ago, then were again given a touch up by the Lions.
The Bombers will need to regroup quickly ahead of their round one showdown with Temora at Langtry Oval on Saturday week.
The Kangaroos have been competitive in hit-outs against Turvey Park and Coolamon.
