The youngster has been booked in for surgery on her hip and leg in the United States in just nine months, so her family is now focused on fundraising efforts.
Mia was born with congenital femoral deficiency, a condition that caused her hip and femur to be underdeveloped at birth.
The little girl, who turns four in May, currently uses a prosthetic leg.
The surgery, set for January 2019, will cost about $300,000.
Mia’s mum Leila Bright said the surgery will take about 12 hours, but that is only the start of a lengthy recovery process for Mia, who will need to stay in Florida for about 10 weeks.
Without the surgery, Ms Bright said, Mia may face extensive problems with her back and legs which could eventually mean she would need to increasingly use a wheelchair.
One of the benefits to the surgery Mia is to undergo is that it will make walking and using prosthetic legs easier as she grows up.
Currently, Mia needs a new prosthetic leg every six months or so.
She has been at Sydney Children’s Hospital this week, having some adjustments made to her current prosthetic, and being measured and fitted for a new one.
With the surgery deadline now less than a year away, Ms Bright said plans were being made for several fundraising events.
A car boot sale is being planned for May 19 and a second Mia’s Mystical Midwinter Ball will be held on July 28.
Details of all of these events are available on Mia’s Facebook page.
With the fundraising efforts continuing, Ms Bright remains amazed at grateful at the way Wagga residents have through their support behind her daughter.
“Wagga has just been so lovely,” Ms Bright said.
“It’s nice to know so many people are behind us.”
The Specialist Medical Resources Foundation has set up an account for the family.
