Officers attached to the Riverina Police District have alleged the 29-year-old forced his way into a property on Wall Avenue in Cootamundra during an argument with the occupants around 6.30pm on Wednesday.
“It would appear there was a long-standing feud between the defendant and the occupants at Wall Avenue,” Cootamundra officer-in-charge Inspector Frank Brown said.
“We believe he attended the house and an argument occurred, during which he was denied access to the house.”
Inspector Brown alleged the man forced entry through the door before being “physically removed” by the occupants.
“He then made a number of threats and proceeded to smash through a window, injuring his right hand in the process.”
Police reports state the man left the premises and was later apprehended on Elizabeth Street by officers.
“The man resisted arrest but was handcuffed after a short struggle … and taken to the Cootamundra police station,” Inspector Brown said.
“Forensics attached to Griffith police have attended the scene and statements have been taken from witnesses and the occupants of the Wall Avenue property.”
