Local mums Jody Oliver and Sarah Peat were well prepared.
Ms Oliver said it was extremely important for her children, Lachlan and Sophia, to be able to take their own creative direction.
“It’s good for them to use their creative skills and see what ideas they have, that way they can be proud of it,” she said.
Ms Peat said she enjoyed being able to take part in the creative process of making the hat with her daughter, Violet.
“They don’t get to do this sort of stuff that often, especially with school, so it’s nice that they can get creative,” she said.
“I help so it’s not too over the top and it won’t topple over.
“I love doing it with them, I like creating, so if they can have that opportunity it’s awesome.”
Violet said she liked being able to create her own hat for the parade and was excited to show her work off on Thursday.
“I like doing it with mummy,” she said.
Both Violet and her mum agree that it can be a bit of a competition to see who can have the most elaborate head wear, but it is all in good fun.
Schools across Wagga such as Kooringal Public School, Sacred Heart Primary School and South Wagga Public School are hosting the annual parades on Thursday just before school breaks for the long weekend.
