Campbell will front the AFL Riverina independent tribunal after a tackle that left an opposition player concussed was referred directly to the tribunal.
Campbell was sent off twice in Tigers’ 35-point win over Farrer League club Charles Sturt University at Maher Oval on Saturday.
The 2016 premiership coach has been offered a reprimand for the first report, instigating a melee in the second quarter.
That was a response to a tackle from CSU recruit Max Hanrahan that left Tigers player Mitch Wadley concussed. Hanrahan was reported for rough conduct and can accept a two-game suspension with an early guilty plea.
Campbell was reported a second time late in the game for rough conduct on CSU’s Connor Elliott.
It was graded as intentional, severe impact and high and received a direct referral to the tribunal.
The tackle has been recorded on video.
The reports marred what was an otherwise positive performance from Tigers in their opening trial game, winning 10.6 (66) to 4.7 (31).
“It was really pleasing, actually,” Campbell said.
“We moved the footy pretty well and the main thing was that we stuck up for ourselves. It was real physical, but that’s what you want from a practice match.”
New recruit Nick Keegan was among those to impress for Tigers in the win. Sam McGowan, Riley Green, Campbell Lovell, Lahn Shepherd, Nick Ryan and Wadley also played good games.
Campbell said the win is a much-needed boost to the group after an off-season where a lot of players departed.
“It’s a really big boost,” he said.
“There was about 10 to 15 players that had never played together and a couple of the new faces were really positive.
“A lot of the kids were prepared to run super hard and work for each other, not just go kick-chasing, which was really pleasing.”
Tigers have the opening round bye but will open their season in round two against arch-rivals Turvey Park at Maher Oval on April 28.
