I have been told that the Base hospital name will go up over time. What happened to the Base Hospital signs that were removed from Edward Street? They had black tape over the word Base. 

It is a major hospital and it being treated as if it has no importance whatsoever. Why can’t a temporary sign be erected at the front entrance? Surely they can find a piece of wood from the demolition. I have white paint they can use in my shed. I will even paint it for them.

The ridiculous Rural Referral name should be covered up or taken down. I can not believe that a major hospital is left with the wrong name on it.  

Who is the person who designed the lettering that is up there? Most of the time you can’t read it because of the sun, even on cloudy days it is hard to read. The name should be easy to read in daylight and lit up in lights at night, at least have lights behind it at night. 

It is a hospital to be proud of. Most of you are going to say “what about the cost?” Well I would like to know what the cost was putting all those tiles on the outside. What is wrong with bricks?

Your correspondent, Matt Parmeter, in the Advertiser on March 20, claims climate change is here. This is due to the measured temperature in Dubbo on March 17, 2018 being 38 degrees.

A quick check of some weather history shows that the hottest March day for Dubbo was 39.5 degrees on March 9, 2004. 

The hottest March on record for Dubbo was 1998, 20 years ago.

Having also checked for Wagga weather history, the hottest March day ever recorded here was 39.5 degrees on March 7, 1983.

I recall that March 7 day very well, as I spent the entire day outside at a Field Day in the Riverina.

March 1986 is listed as the hottest March on record for Wagga. That is over 30 years ago, and it was what most people would call an “Indian Summer” March, typical weather for this time of year.

I do wish people would spend five minutes checking their facts before making sweeping statements about temperatures and climate change.

It could also be a wise investment to ask longtime residents for their weather records over the years,  before making claims as your correspondent has done.

The big banks almost ran themselves, with dividends fairly predictable. NSW should buy Westpac (it began as Bank of NSW).

Then, get rid of the CEO, directors and all highly-paid staff. Recruit a sensible experiment bank manager to our public service to run the bank, maintaining dividend rates. All staff to be public servants.

The saving of about $10M a year would allow ‘our’ bank to cut loan rates and increase deposit rates. Challenging the other banks to act on their ridiculous packages for CEO’s.
