A spokesperson for the department said the project would take about three months to complete but didn’t answer any questions surrounding the cost of the new system or any previous repairs.
A temporary courtroom has now been established, with the usual court operations expected to continue.
“Planning for these works has involved establishing a temporary courtroom in the new building's multipurpose room,” a spokesperson said.
“The upgrade of the courtroom in the old registry building last year will also enable additional capacity.
“Four courtrooms with audio visual link will be available during the construction period – this includes facilities for trials and custody hearings."
