She will turn on a city or town in an instant without a moment’s notice.

The most recent example is at the coastal town of Tathra, which has suffered a loss of about 70 homes and businesses from a devastating bushfire.

Buildings caved like they were made of putty and the fire swept through at unimaginable speed.

Emergency service crews and charity organisations have offered to assist those affected by the blaze.

Crews from across the country offered their services to extinguish the fire while organisations are now offering to supply residents with clothing and essential items after losing everything.

The Riverina has been the victim of multiple natural disasters, including bushfires in Junee in early 2006 and the floods in 2012 in Wagga.

The one constant was just how willing people were to lend a hand.

Whether it was moving furniture, evacuating residents or cleaning up the damage, neighbours were often the first on the scene.

What was also remarkable was that people from other towns and cities offered donated items and money to help the communities rebuild.

And now Wagga is in a position to give back in the same way.

We have seen how willing we are to donate or pitch in when one of our own is in need.

Why not extend that same generosity to another town?

Residents know how hard it can be to bounce back from a disaster – the insurance claims, the cleaning, rebuilding and starting from scratch.

Local residents are calling on people in the community to donate to help residents rebuild after an unimaginable loss.

Non-perishable food items, clothing, furniture and toiletries are among the ways you can help.
