Atomic batteries to power, turbines to speed: The heroes are coming to Wagga!
The shores of Lake Albert will be filled with colourful costumes and caped crusaders on April 8 with Wagga Autism Support Group hosting its annual superhero walk.
Organiser Deb Bewick said the event was aimed at raising awareness about autism and the superhero theme was not an accident.
“A lot of the kids do better when they’re dressed up as somebody else,” Ms Bewick said.
“And in order to get to school, to be out in the community, these kids need to be superheroes because they go into uncomfortable situations every day. The parents have to be superheroes too!”
Ms Bewick hoped the whole community join in on the day. Find out more at www.waggaautismgroup.org.au.
“The focus is on a fun, family day,” Ms Bewick said. “Join in, walk with us and have fun!”
