Essendon legends Kevin Sheedy and James Hird were interested on-lookers at the Bulldogs session at Maher Oval.

Looking to inspire the Bulldogs, Sheedy and Hird emphasised just how important attitude is.

“You have to have a great attitude to get out there and make it happen in your own life,” Sheedy said.

“That is what you have to get if you want this club to be a fantastic footy club.

“You don’t have to be superstars, just have a great attitude.”

Both were firm believers it is the key to success on and off the field.

“Best attitude wins most games,” Sheedy said.

Using Leeton product Jacob Townsend and his meteoric rise to becoming a premiership with Richmond as an example, Sheedy implored the strong training contingent to keep working hard to achieve their goals.

Turvey Park captain-coach Truman Carroll hopes his team acts on the messages delivered by Hird and Sheedy as they look to be a more competitive force in 2018.

“It was great to have them down, they have such a big aura with them and the guys are definitely inspired by what they had to say and will take it on board,” Carroll said.

The Bulldogs are coming off a trial win against Ovens and Murray side Corowa-Rutherglen on Saturday. 

He's looking to build on that with trials against Temora, North Wagga and CSU before the season starts against Coolamon on April 21.
