The Iota Racing team from Tumut High School came in at a very impressive second in the national finals earlier this month, earning them the chance to now compete against the world’s best.
The team’s marketing manager Vince Wood said the competition essentially saw the boys run every aspect of an Formula One company.
“We had to create a miniature F1 car, make a trade display booth, attract sponsors, and create a 22 page A3 portfolio,” Vince said.
“Now, we will be facing around about 50 different teams from across 30 countries in the F1 in Schools World Championship.
“Words can't explain it – we were all really excited about it and a bit shocked.”
The boys were not only judged on the speed and design of their car, but also on ability to secure sponsors, present to businesses, attract funding, and manage their company’s public profile.
