In the end Bailey Bramich and Jada Burgun couldn’t be split and had to share the honours.

Carnival co-ordinator Timothy Lawler said it was by far the most hotly contested age division.

He was impressed by how well the students got into the spirit of the day.

“It was a really lovely day and the kids all competed in the right spirit and did their best,” Lawler said.

“It was a great competition.”

Nagle also claimed a tight race in the house competition, proving too strong for John Paul.
