A year after being named 11-years girl champion, Ahmadi backed up the performance on Thursday to take out the senior girls’ title. She was the only winner from 2017 to go back-to-back.
Although no records were broken on a warm day at the track, Zahra was one of a number of standout performers at the carnival.
Moneesha Annai was another to catch the eye, pacing herself perfectly with a superb run to win the 11-years girls 800m event by 20 seconds.
Sports coordinator Melissa Barnes said high participation was also a highlight.
“It was a really good, it was pretty warm but we had lots of parents there and every single child had a go at the events, in the running and slotted in to the field events,” Barnes said.
In a win for blue, Mortimer was the winning house on the day.
Infants students were also there for half of the day, competing in a 70-metre sprint as well as a ‘marathon’ race.
