As if hitting a hole in one isn’t a great feeling in itself, golfers have a chance to win big and raise money for charity at the same time.
For the past 20 years golfers have been attempting to win big at the South Wagga Rotary Charity Golf Day with the impressive hole-in-one prizes.
This year two holes have massive prizes on offer, a Mazda from Jupiter Motors at one and $5000 worth of white goods (sponsored by AVIS and supplied by The Good Guys) at another.
There is also a prize up for grabs for the nearest to the hole.
There has never been a winner of the car or white goods in the event’s history but club president Milena Dunn hopes the prize can be won this year.
Up to 40 teams will have the chance to tackle the course at the Wagga Country Golf Club on Friday March 16.
Proceeds from the golf day will be donated to local children’s cancer support charities, Ronald McDonald House Kids Cottage and Country Hope.

“Thanks to the support we have received from our local community we have donated well in excess of $230,000 in that time and supported a lot of local charities including Ronald McDonald House, Country Hope, Kurrajong, Angel Flight, Leisure Company, Assistance Dogs, Lilier Lodge and Prostate and Breast Cancer support group and many others,” Mrs Dunn said.
Money is not only raised on the day but also from the major raffle that is drawn at the end of the golf day.
Tickets are still on sale with a six-night cruise to Tasmania the major prize donated by Helloworld Travel, travel money from Charlie's Frames and Games and four other prizes.
“Our thanks is also extended to the local businesses whose strong support helps our South Wagga Rotary Charity Golf day event to continue each year,” Mrs Dunn said.
Just as important as the sponsors are the club members and their spouses who work tirelessly to bring the event together each year.
“South Wagga Wagga Rotary has a hardworking band of volunteers who contribute their own skills to make the day a success,” Mrs Dunn said.
