Wagga kids will have the chance to do just that this weekend when CodeSpace brings a video game coding workshop to town.
Museum of the Riverina's Tim Kurylowicz said these sorts of workshops are rarely available outside the city.
“The games will look a bit like the ones I played as a kid – your Super Mario style games where you’re jumping up and down, avoiding spikes, and collecting prizes along the way,” he said.
“The kids will design all of the logic behind the game, the way things move, where different objects are, and what it all looks like.
“They’ll learn the basics of computational thinking and how programming works – so they're going to have a lot of fun, but they're actually going to gain some pretty serious skills as well.”
While this weekend’s workshop is already sold out, there may be more sessions to come in the near future.
