Police were called to the intersection of Clarke and Lovell streets in Young about 10pm on November 14 after numerous reports of a vehicle explosion.
Officer examined the scene and the Rescue and Bomb Disposal Unit determined the white Ford Falcon was destroyed in a deliberate act by an explosive devise.
Officers from the Hume Police District commenced an investigation into the incident.
As inquiries continue, officers are seeking public assistance to locate of a vehicle of interest, described as a dark-coloured sedan with ACT registration.
“Two pedestrians in the vicinity of the explosion were lucky not to have been injured. It was extremely dangerous,” Detective Inspector Scott Wilkinson from Young Police Station said.
“We’re asking that if anyone recognises the car, or has any information about who was responsible for the explosion, that they give us a call.”
