The Wodonga Junior Basketball Tournament sees teams ranging from under 12s to under 18s take part in three to four games in one weekend.
Wagga Basketball Junior Representative Director Ian Stoll said it marked the perfect opportunity for young players to experience the heat of competition before the Southern Junior League season begins.
“They’ve been training since last year but this is the first time this season they’ll be able to come together to play competitively,” Stoll said.
“It gives them some great exposure and allows the coaches to see how the players are gelling and assess how the teams are going.”
Wagga will send a wide variety of teams, submitting two under 14s and under 16s boys for the first time.
The competition runs from Friday to Sunday, with teams from outside the Wodonga area playing their first games on Saturday.
Wagga’s respective Southern Junior League seasons will then tip off in March.
