Australian company Go Buggy is due to arrive in Wagga later this month and is promising cheaper fares and better pay for drivers than taxis can offer.
The Daily Advertiser asked residents whether they would use a ridesharing service like Go Buggy.
More than 80 per cent of respondents voted yes, indicating they would give the new service a go.
Founding director Simon Robinson said their decision to begin servicing Wagga came after an insider from the local taxi industry reached out to share some of their frustrations.
“We received information from Wagga in relation to the wait times that consumers were experiencing – apparently, on a weekend, it's not uncommon to be waiting two to three hours for a taxi,” Mr Robinson said.
“Go Buggy is guaranteed to be cheaper than the taxi fare rate.”
